Christian Bookshop Ossett

committed to free grace books and quality service

about us

Our beginnings can be traced back to the 1960s in the rear bedroom of a terraced house in Sheffield! From there books were distributed worldwide for Gospel Tidings and Zoar Publications.  Eventually premises were made freely available by the Particular Baptist Church in Ossett, and so, on 2nd January 1983, the Christian Bookshop Ossett was born.  'Having therefore obtained help of God, we continue unto this day' (Acts 26 v 22) ...this is our testimony.

The stock has expanded over time to fill the shelf space available, but the vision is unchanged.  This embraces the promotion of the reading of literature faithful to God's inerrant word.  We act as the northern agent for Gospel Standard Publications, and UK distributor of Gospel Mission books. We also hold a range of Reformed, Calvinistic, Baptist and Evangelical literature from all the best publishers. We still publish from time to time under the imprint of CBO Publications.

The Roe Family

Our presence near the centre of a small town in West Yorkshire is a witness in the local community.  But perhaps our real service is to the Churches, their bookstalls, Sunday Schools and ministers, to enable them to fulfill their God-appointed mission.  This service has no geographical bounds and over time a solid customer base has been built up throughout the UK and abroad.

So whether you visit us on this website or in the shop we promise to offer you a prompt and friendly service at all times. The shop managers are Lorna and Jeremy Roe, as seen with their three little helpers:-

N.B. We apologise in advance for any unusual background noise customers may hear when they phone or call in!
